    • Carbon Emissions Falling In Some Cities

      Article

We often hear about doom and gloom in regards to the climate crisis. It's nice to sometimes see positive news - for me it keeps me motivated that we can accomplish positive effects when good people work together! On that note, this article goes over some cities that have reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by at least 10%. The cities contain 58 million people 👀

There's obviously a lot left to do but we can do it!

    • RE: Veganism for the environment

@Jacara the secondary effects that you're mentioning are eye opening. I wouldn't have even thought of something like topsoil erosion causing run on problems. thanks

    • RE: Green Hydrogen from sea water & renewable energy for the maritime and renewable energy industries

Who would be the main buyers for hydrogen created this way? Is it a very liquid market at lower volume?

    • How do we get off carbon-based energy fast?

Renewable energy sources currently provide only a small percentage of our energy. A lot of the problem comes from the variability of wind and solar. Nuclear power is super expensive and faces regulatory issues.

Realistically, what does the path to decarbonization in as short a time frame as possible as possible?

    • RE: Paccurate: A mathematical approach to reducing shipping waste

@James-Malley just wanted to say keep up the great work - I know I'm not alone in looking forward to the day that I can order something online and not have to stress about how much waste I'm creating. If more and more companies follow your lead, we'll be in a much more sustainable place

@Kevin-Qi Have you considered open sourcing the repository? Might draw more interest in getting help that way 🙂

@teddy cool stuff. Is the idea that through better energy management with software/data, you'll be able to optimize the processes and reduce emissions?

    • RE: Open source streetcar/trolley design. Any interest in this?

agreed, start small is good advice I think. @patrickmaynard you've laid out a nice vision for the components but there might still be a barrier to getting people involved as it looks like a big hairy problem upon first glance. It would be really admirable if you could get anything off the ground. Proving the value of the concept is paramount to get any kind of support
