    • As this decade ends, here's some emerging energy tech to inspire the next 10 years

It's easy to feel uninspired by the lack of progress society has made in the last decade. Thinking pragmatically though, here is a few promising energy technologies which might help with decarbonization in the next 10 years.

      Summarized here for convenience:

      • Marine solar
      • Static compensators
      • Dynamic export cables
      • Molten salt reactors
      • Green hydrogen

    • RE: Help us inspire more people to remove carbon dioxide from the air

@ldeddens Awesome technology and well done on the launch! It looks like your approach is to offer a monthly subscription with a certain amount of CO₂ mitigated.

Is there a limit to how much carbon dioxide can be safely pumped into the ground?

    • RE: Digitizing Corporate Sustainability Efforts

@annaira said in Digitizing Corporate Sustainability Efforts:

We think that this can be done better and aim to digitize this space.

@annaira True Colors sounds interesting - what is meant by "digitize the space"? What exactly is the product offering? Is there a cost? If so how much? If not, what is your business model? How do you differentiate yourselves from some of the other sustainability trackers?

When I clicked on your link, the landing page was in German. Is that your primary target market?

Thanks for sharing and good luck with this project, the design looks great!

    • RE: Looking on the bright side... will Covid19 have a lasting positive impact on the environment?

Ultimately what I've seen has been mostly emotional reactions due to COVID19. People make real changes not because of logic but because of their feelings.

The other day, a pod of orca whales was sighted extremely close to the Vancouver downtown core (source). It's obviously super anecdotal and not the kind of evidence you can base real models upon, but these are the kind of sentiments that really get through to people.

Continuing to highlight things like that will hopefully stick around in the minds of society for the long term. This is why I'm optimistic that something good can come from all of this

    • Adaptation vs Mitigation?

Are we at the point now where we need to shift the global narrative more towards wide scale adaptation (coping with the effects of climate change) as opposed to focusing primarily on mitigating the causes?

It would obviously be great to do both, but events like the Australian bushfires are starting to highlight how unequipped we might be on the adaptation side.

      What is the right balance?

    • RE: Clean energy in the developing world is slowing down. What can we do?

Loads of small scale solar apparatuses (apparatum? apparati?) are making their way to places that are currently not electrified! Here is one solar home kit

The cool thing is the financial model of pay-as-you-go has enabled people who otherwise might not be able to afford a switch away from dirty and toxic kerosene!
